Jeremy Hill, CPE

Fire Captain & 911 Manager, City of Amarillo, TX, APCO International, Executive Council Rep

Capt. Jeremy Hill serves as a veteran member of the Amarillo Fire Department (AFD) and has overall served in Public Safety for the last 23 years. The past 7 years, Jeremy has co-managed Amarillo’s consolidated 911 center. This 911 center receives and dispatches 911 calls for Police, Fire, Medical, and Animal Control.

During his time as 911 manager Jeremy has served as Texas state President of the Association of Public-Safety Officials (APCO). During his term on the Board, Jeremy testified at the State Capitol on behalf of 911 being reclassified from clerical status to a Public Safety status. His testimony was instrumental in the passage of Texas House Bill 1090.
Jeremy was tasked with building and serving as Chair of the APCO Health & Wellness committee. The passion for health and wellness was triggered and fueled by a suicide of a childhood friend, who Jeremy also ended up riding a fire truck with. That tragedy rocked his department and sent Capt. Hill on a mission to ensure the loss was not in vain. This mission has led to development and teaching of classes that have been presented at National APCO & Navigator, as well as the State level. These classes have also been taught across the country working with The Healthy Dispatcher.
